Snapchat Inc.’s quest for more funding took co-founder and Chief Executive Evan Spiegel to Saudi Arabia recently.

Spiegel traveled to the Middle East along with Imran Khan, Snapchat’s chief strategy officer, for a meeting with Kingdom Holding Co. and its chairman, Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, who according to Forbes has an estimated net worth of nearly $23 billion.

Kingdom Holding Co. announced Spiegel’s visit to Prince Alwaleed’s Kingdom Resort in Riyadh on its website and posted photos of the meeting. It did not say when the meeting took place.

Snapchat is reportedly in the midst of a $500 million funding round that would take its valuation to $19 billion. The company declined a request for comment regarding its meeting with Kingdom Holding.

In addition to discussing “potential business cooperation” between the companies, the two men also spoke about “political, business and economic issues,” as well as Prince Alwaleed’s other U.S. investments, according to Kingdom Holding’s post.

Kingdom Holding counts large stakes in Twitter, Citigroup, 21st Century Fox and Four Seasons Hotels Ltd. among its holdings.
