Malibu toymaker Jakks Pacific Inc. announced today that it has secured a licensing deal to make toys and costumes based on the Microsoft Studios video game “Halo.”

The agreement grants Jakks worldwide rights to produce large-scale action figures based on the “Halo” property, including the upcoming “Halo 5: Guardians” title, which debuts this fall. It also gives the company’s San Diego costume division, Disguise Inc., the rights to make “Halo” branded costumes and accessories for distribution in North America, Latin America and the United Kingdom.

The new “Halo” costumes from Disguise are scheduled to be available at retailers nationwide during the next Halloween season. The new large-scale “Halo” figures are slated to be available this fall.

The popular “Halo” franchise of games is exclusive to Xbox platforms, Windows 8 PCs, tablets, and Windows Phone 8 devices. To date, more than 60 million copies of “Halo” games have been sold worldwide.

Shares of Jakks fell 2 cents, or less than 1 percent in Monday trading to close at $6.15.
