Machinima, a West Hollywood online gamer network, has partnered with Vimeo to produce exclusive content for the New York firm’s video-on-demand platform.
Vimeo will provide funding for select Machinima creators to produce original programming that will be distributed on Vimeo On Demand. Machinima will integrate Vimeo into its talent management system, which includes analytics, social tools and earnings reports. The deal also gives Machinima talent discounted Vimeo Pro accounts.
Walt Disney Co.-owned Maker Studios inked a similar deal with Vimeo last month.
“Our partnership with Vimeo for content development and distribution on its innovative transactional platform delivers new monetization opportunities and funding sources for premium, long-form content developed and produced both by Machinima and the creators in our talent network,” said Machinima Chief Executive Chad Gutstein in a statement.
The news comes days after Machinima laid off 10 percent of its staff in an effort to focus on more profitable ventures. Machinima also received last week a $24 million investment, which was led by longtime investor Warner Bros.
