Jakks Pacific Obtains Warcraft Licensing Rights

Malibu toymaker Jakks Pacific Inc. has obtained the licensing rights to create toys, costumes and other items for the upcoming movie Warcraft. The movie is based on the popular World of Warcraft video game by Blizzard Entertainment, part of Santa Monica game publisher Activision Blizzard Inc.

Under the licensing agreement, Jakks will make and sell action figures, plush toys, playsets, role-play items and Halloween costumes for the movie, which is due out in March 2016, according to Jakks.

The movie is being produced by Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production, and released by Universal Pictures.

Jakks said it will release the Warcraft products to national retailers early next year.
