Carson trucking firm Pacific 9 Transportation has been ordered by state officials to pay more than $7 million in back pay to 38 truck drivers, the Los Angeles Times reports. Both sides have been at odds because unions have been pushing for truckers to be considered as employees while most trucking companies say they are independent contractors.
