Dodgers Hit with Over $43 million in Luxury Tax

The Dodgers have been hit with a record luxury tax of nearly $43.6 million for a payroll that fell just shy of $300 million during the 2015 season, according to the Associated Press. Luxury tax checks to the MLB’s commissioner’s office are due by Jan. 21.

The Yankees owe $26.1 million, raising New York’s total since the tax began in 2003 to $297.97 million. Boston owes $1.8 million for this year and the Giants $1.3 million, a record tax total of $72.8 million for a single season.
