BreitBurn Energy Partners, TrueCar Among This Week’s Movers

The Los Angeles Business Journal’s index of the largest local public companies rose slightly after a volatile week. The weighted LABJ index was up 1 percent to close at 224, with gainers outpacing losers 79 to 75. Four companies closed the week unchanged.

Among stocks trading above a dollar, BreitBurn Energy Partners LP was among the gainers. Shares of the Los Angeles oil partnership were up 29 percent to close at $2.90 as the energy sector finished the week strong.

Santa Monica’s TrueCar Inc. was also one of the week’s big gainers. Shares rose 21 percent over the week to close at $5.80 Friday. The company this week projected that its seasonally adjusted sales of cars, SUVs and pick-up trucks would reach 17.4 million vehicles, 100,000 more than a year ago.

Billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong’s clinical-stage immunotherapy firm NantKwest Inc. was among the week’s losing stocks. Shares of the company fell 22 percent for the week, closing at $18.56.
