HouseStay: Online apartment rental service HouseStay of Beverly Grove has launched. The online service offers furnished apartments for business travelers staying in Los Angeles for months at a time. The service is an alternative to extended-stay hotels.

Civic Resource Group: Government cloud-computing service provider Civic Resource Group of downtown Los Angeles launched CivicConnect Parking, a platform that helps manage public parking assets and data. Local governments implement CivicConnect with third-party app developers building their parking apps on top of the platform using an API.

SurfAir: Santa Monica subscription airline SurfAir has launched a new route to Sacramento. The company offers traveling executives, mostly within California, a monthly all-you-can-fly subscription. The airline operates single-engine turboprop aircraft that allow its passengers to quickly zip in and out of small airports.

Coding Dojo: San Jose’s Coding Dojo, a so-called coding boot camp, has opened a Burbank location. The coding school claims its intensive program teaches students full-stack development skills in 14 weeks.

Fama: Venice’s Fama, a social media and digital background check company, has launched. The company’s software screens a job candidate’s digital footprint, finding “social media flags,” such as references to illegal drugs, profanity and bigotry. The startup brands itself as the “Carfax for hires.”

Dashio: L.A.’s Dashio has launched its service on a limited basis in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Users of the service can send a text or Facebook message to request pick up and delivery of a number items from local grocers, restaurants and retailers. The company describes itself as “an all-encompassing on-demand service.”
