YouTube video and music copyright management firm Zefr is spreading to new platforms.

The Venice company today announced a partnership with SoundCloud, which hosts and plays often copyrighted music that has been remixed by users, to analyze the contents of its audio library.

Zefr has built its business on YouTube, scanning video and music content for material copyrighted by others and helping its clients claim a share of the advertising revenue generated against that material. The company also uses its technology to provide audience insights.

With SoundCloud, Zefr will use its technology to provide audience and content insight, but co-founder and co-Chief Executive Rich Raddon hinted that the partnership is the precursor to finding ways to duplicate its YouTube copyright and advertising revenue claiming business model.

“It will hopefully be just a matter of time before we are on these other platforms as well,” said Raddon. “We worked over the last few years to make sure our tech stack could be ported to other platforms.”
