Air Lease Corp. Makes Major Boeing Buy

Air Lease Corp. in Century City will purchase 26 Boeing Co. aircraft valued at $3.9 billion, both companies announced Tuesday.

Air Lease Corp. will acquire six 777-300 ER jets and 20 737 MAX aircraft. The companies made the announcement as the Farnborough International Air Show takes place in the United Kingdom.

Air Lease Corp., which leases jets to airlines, also made several other purchase announcements over the past two days.

Air Lease Corp. and engine manufacturer CFM International also announced that on Tuesday that the former company will acquire more than $1 billion worth of engines to power Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

Air Lease announced Monday it will acquire 25 A330-900neo jets from European plane company Airbus, along with 60 A321neo aircraft. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Air Lease Corp. also announced Monday it ordered $1.4 billion worth of aircraft engines from GE Aviation to power Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets.
