The most I’ve spent on sneakers is $400 for a pair of Ferragamo high-tops. I bought them when I was researching the construction of sneakers. But I wear them all the time now. They’re very comfortable.

The most I’ve spent on a pair of tennis shoes was $300. They were Kurt Geiger and I believe they were on sale – they’re normally $500. It was a total impulse buy. I love them. I still wear them all the time.

I’m not really a big sneaker head, but I’ve spent almost $200 for a pair of leather John Varvatos Chuck Taylors.

The most I’ve ever spent, all the way back in 2005, was $400 for a pair of Gucci knockoffs of Pumas. I couldn’t really take staring at my feet thinking I’d spent that much on a pair of tennis shoes, so I tossed them after a month. I’m a Converse guy. The lesson in all that was: don’t go back to Barney’s.

I always spend too much money on shoes. Most women with shoe fetishes could likely pay several years of rent or pay off the mortgage if they tallied the amount of money they’ve spent on shoes. My very cute sneakers cost me $120, but I’ve worn them hundreds of times, making their value priceless.
