Wilshire Bancorp Inc. late Thursday announced that the name of its Wilshire State Bank subsidiary will change to Wilshire Bank as of Oct. 4.

The Koreatown bank holding company, which has branches and loan production operations in nine states, also will unveil a new logo and other branding for Wilshire Bank.

“During our more than 30 years in business, we have been commonly referred to as Wilshire Bank throughout the communities we serve, so it only made sense to make this our official name,” Chief Executive Jae Whan Yoo said in a statement. “The new logo presents a more modern look to reflect our position as a leader in Korean-American banking in the 21st Century.”

Shares earlier closed down 10 cents, or 1 percent, to $8.23 on the Nasdaq.
