Nexicore Services plans to lay off 108 employees at its Simi Valley headquarters, according to a notice filed with the state Employee Development Department.

Nexicore, a subsidiary of Avnet Inc. of Phoenix, is a computer services company with headquarters at 4201 Guardian St. in Simi Valley. Nexicore also operates facilities in Florida, Illinois and Ontario, Canada.

Founded in 1986 as a computer-hardware leasing company, Nexicore was purchased out of bankruptcy by Avnet in April last year. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The Simi Valley cuts will take place on July 6, but the plant will not close, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN notice, filed with the state. California law requires the notices before plant closings or mass layoffs.

Calls to the company were not immediately returned for comment.
