PR Pickup: JMPR Public Relations, a Woodland Hills public relations firm with a focus on the automotive industry, has been named agency of record for Lou La Vie, a Miami renter of luxury and exotic vehicles serving the South Florida market. The company will launch an international campaign promoting Lou La Vie.
Residential Purchase: North Hollywood’s MSCO Corp. has paid $9.2 million to acquire a 52-unit Van Nuys apartment from Dallas’ Orix Capital Markets LLC. The 41,099-square-foot Terraces at the Lake complex, at 16550 Vanowen St., was built in 1988 and was fully leased at the time of sale.
Linked Up: J2 Global Inc., a Hollywood provider of Internet fax services and owner of online media properties, has acquired MetroFax Inc., a Bellevue, Wash., Internet faxing company. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Medicinal Infusion: Medbox Inc., a West Hollywood maker of ATM-like devices that dispense medical marijuana and other pharmaceuticals, has taken a 50 percent partnership stake in MedVend LLC, a Commerce Township, Mich., developer of a patented medicine-dispensing machine. The deal involved cash and a restricted stock component totaling up to $5.2 million. The deal also resulted in the creation of MedVend Inc., a new partnership entity
Beauty Bucks: Cosmetix West, an El Segundo contract manufacturer of beauty and fragrance products, has completed a financing and small-business banking agreement with Wells Fargo. In addition to banking services, Wells Fargo will provide Cosmetix with lines of credit for working capital and equipment.
Parking Space: Kayne Partners, a private-equity group of Century City-based investment firm Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors LP, has formed a team with Aparc Systems Ltd., a San Francisco parking and vehicle-tracking technology firm. Kayne Partners will provide Aparc funds to expand the rollout and reach of Aparc’s services.
Crafty Acquisition: Demand Media, a Santa Monica owner of online media properties, has acquired Creativebug, a San Francisco creator of digital how-to arts and crafts videos. Demand Media will use the acquisition to bolster its eHow.com instructional property. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

New Outlet: Ashley Furniture HomeStore, an Arcadia, Wis., home furnishings chain, has opened a store at the Eastland Center retail campus in West Covina. The new 42,000-square-foot outpost is at 2753 E. Eastland Center Drive.
