Crowning Inspiration
Ann Kirchofer

For Ann Kirchofer, the coming addition to the British royal family proved to be an inspiration.

When Kirchofer, whose mother moved to the United States from Britain in 1961, heard in January that Kate Middleton was pregnant, she decided to design a product line inspired by the royal baby at her Torrance furniture company, Bradshaw Kirchofer.

Her new line, the St. Andrews collection, was named after St. Andrews University, the place where Middleton met Prince William. It features pieces in the classical style, including beds, wardrobes, dressers and side tables, and comes in three colors, vintage pink, ocean aqua and whisper gray.

Kirchofer has always been proud of her British heritage, with an exceptional love for British vintage style – and for pine furniture, in particular. This passion drove her to start her own furniture company featuring British vintage style 19 years ago.

“Our heritage and history links back to the U.K.,” said Lisa Faulkner, Bradshaw Kirchofer’s marketing director and a partner in the company. “That feels so right for us.”

The company said that it launched its first website three weeks ago and has received several dozen online orders already despite limited marketing.
