Caruso Announces Changes for Americana at Brand

Caruso Affiliated on Wednesday announced more than $60 million in renovations at Americana at Brand, largely aimed at the Brand Boulevard side of the Glendale shopping center.

The open-air center competes with the Glendale Galleria, across Center Avenue. The main entrance of Americana has been on Center. But this fall, two new anchor department stores and other upscale tenants are opening at Americana, so the developer is planning to emphasize the Brand frontage.

A new Nordstrom on the Colorado Street side of the 16-acre property will feature an entrance on Brand with valet parking. A new Bloomingdale’s will anchor the shopping center at the corner of Brand and West Broadway.

Caruso also announced the coming of two restaurants at the Brand and Colorado corner: Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak and Taiwanese dumpling house DinTaiFung. Nordstrom, which moved from a smaller space in the Galleria, also will feature a restaurant, Bar Verde. DinTaiFung is set to open this fall, with Bourbon Steak following early next year.

“As we celebrate (Americana’s) five-year anniversary, we are proud that the world’s most popular retailers and restaurateurs seek to partner with us,” Rick Caruso, Caruso Affiliated’s chief executive, said during a morning press reception at the center. “We love being part of the transformation of Glendale.”
