Cedars-Sinai Medical Center announced Wednesday it will name part of its new Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion after Orange County philanthropists Bill and Sue Gross.

The couple has donated $20 million to Cedars-Sinai for the new Sue and Bill Gross Surgery and Procedure Center. The center will take up the fifth floor of the Pavillion, which is scheduled to open on the east side of the L.A. medical center in summer 2013.

Bill Gross is co-founder and co-chief investment officer of Pacific Investment Management Co., known as Pimco, in Newport Beach.

“We wanted to make a gift to support a worthy Los Angeles-based healthcare institution,” Sue Gross said in a statement. “Cedars-Sinai’s mission resonated with us.”
