Image Metrics Inc., a facial animation technology company, began trading Tuesday on the OTC Bulletin Board.

The Santa Monica company, which went public in March 2010 through a reverse merger and had been listed on the Pink Sheets, said the move will provide greater investor visibility.

“Listing on the OTC Bulletin Board is an important and obvious next step for our company,” said company Chief Executive Robert Gehorsam in a written statement. “Our new listing on the Bulletin Board will provide more visibility for investors and others following the company.”

The Bulletin Board, owned by Nasdaq, requires listed companies to file financial reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Founded in 2000, Image Metrics uses its technology to animate faces in video games and movies. Past projects include work on video game “Red Dead Redemption” and the film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

The company’s shares, which trade under the ticker symbol “IMGX,” closed down 5 cents, or 17 percent, to 45 cents on the Bulletin Board.
