Southern California Edison has signed a deal to have SunPower Corp. deliver solar power to the Rosemead utility’s customers.

SoCal Edison, a unit of Edison International, said on Monday that it has signed three contracts with San Jose-based SunPower to buy 711 megawatts of electricity for more than 460,000 California homes.

The contracts, the first of which starts in 2014, must be approved by the California Public Utilities Commission. The power is being produced at facilities in Los Banos and Rosamond.
