Capstone Sells 24 Turbines to Oil Company

Capstone Turbine Corp. in Chatsworth today announced a new order for 24 microturbines from an unnamed independent oil company in the United States.

The turbines will be installed in remote well sites and pump stations in the Eagle Ford shale oilfield in South Texas. During the last nine months, Capstone has received four orders for 51 turbines from oil and natural gas explorers in the U.S.

Capstone’s turbines burn natural gas, giving the company a competitive advantage because federal regulations require low emissions for such uses, the company said in announcing the most recent order.

The four orders “shows real momentum in the shale gas space and is a testament to the quality of our innovative products,” Jim Crouse, Capstone’s executive vice-president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.

Shares of Capstone were up 11 cents in mid-day trading, or 8 percent, to $1.46 on the Nasdaq.
