Phillips Service Industries Inc. on Monday said that it acquired Skytronics Inc., an El Segundo aircraft component manufacturer, distributor and maintenance company.

Phillips, a Livonia, Mich. technology conglomerate, said that the deal expands its reach into the aerospace market, where it already has five divisions. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Skytronics, which was founded in 1956, specializes in the manufacturing, overhaul and repair of aircraft ball screw and actuator assemblies. A ball screw has multiple uses in aviation, and aircraft that use the product include the Boeing 747. The company also makes electrical alternators for general aviation aircraft.

“The Skytronics acquisition provides additional products and services to our valued customers,” said Phillips Chief Executibe Scott Phillips in a statement.
