Ryland Group Inc. said that it plans to wind down its homebuilding operations in its Dallas and Jacksonville, Fla. regions.

The Calabasas company, which operates in 13 states, said Friday that it intends to complete all the homes currently under contract with customers, and will service all outstanding warranties on the homes it has constructed in those divisions.

The company said it plans to market its remaining land in these divisions as part of “a strategic plan to efficiently manage its invested capital.”

Shares were up 47 cents, or 4.5 percent, to $10.96 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
