THQ Inc., known for video games featuring raucous World Wrestling Federation characters, said on Tuesday it will develop games based on the alternative health and spirituality teachings of Dr. Deepak Chopra.

The multi-year, exclusive and worldwide agreement with Curious Pictures, which holds Chopra’s rights, will allow the Agoura Hills company to publish interactive games on several game platforms, including Sony PlayStation3, Wii, and Nintendo DS.

Chopra, a La Jolla endocrinologist born in India, is the author of more than 55 books on mind-body health, spirituality and peace based on Indian ayurvedic and other traditional practices.

“We look forward to translating Dr. Chopra’s teachings and practices into a video game that provides gamers with a truly unique and rewarding experience,” said Martin Good, executive vice president of THQ’s family and casual games unit, in a statement. “THQ continues to expand its casual games portfolio and has grand plans to invigorate the lifestyle category with this game.”

Shares closed up 12 cents, or 2.8 percent, to $4.28 on the Nasdaq.
