EdgeCast Networks Inc. said Monday that it closed a $10 million financing led by Silicon Valley venture capital firm Menlo Ventures.

The Santa Monica company hosts networks that enable higher-quality delivery of Internet content. Clients include Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., JetBlue Airways, Kellogg’s Co., and EMI Music Publishing.

The money will be used to develop and launch new services, expand its network and ramp up sales and marketing. EdgeCast said it reached profitability in the fourth quarter of 2009, two years after opening for business.

The Series C financing round brings EdgeCast’s total funding to more than $20 million. As part of the funding, Menlo Ventures Managing Director Pravin Vazirani has joined the company’s board.
