International Rectifier Probe Ends

International Rectifier Corp. said Monday that federal prosecutors do not plan to bring any charges against the company related to accounting irregularities that led to a restatement of financial results last year.

The U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California won’t bring charges against the company, its executives, directors or employees, said the El Segundo semiconductor maker, adding it continues to cooperate with a separate civil investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In April 2007, the company said it found accounting irregularities at a foreign subsidiary. The company in August 2008 restated its financials for several quarters in 2007 and 2008, plus its fiscal 2007 results.

“The decision by the U.S. Attorney’s office is another step toward conclusion of the legacy legal issues of the company,” said Chief Executive Oleg Khaykin in a statement. “We are pleased to have received this result, and are continuing to work diligently to bring matters related to the prior restatement to a close.”

Shares closed down 38 cents, or 2 percent, to $19.33 in the New York Stock Exchange.
