Tech Team-Up: Liferay Inc., a Hacienda Heights maker of business services software, has partnered with Turku, Finland-based IT Mill Ltd. to offer IT Mill’s user interface software Vaadin with Liferay software products. Vaadin will help Liferay customers with the creation of e-mail, content management and other business service applications.
Building Deal: Living Opportunities Management Co. has purchased a Long Beach office property from Newcastle Partners Inc. The building, at 3787 Worksham Ave., is 7,622 square feet. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Cleaning Up: Advanced Cleanup Technologies Inc., a Rancho Dominguez hazardous waste management company, has received a Clean Air Award for its Advanced Maritime Emissions Control system from the South Coast Air Quality Management District. ACT’s system reduces emissions from anchored or at-berth oceangoing vessels.
Lease Contract: Surface Preparation Solutions LLC has signed a 62-month lease for industrial space in Paramount with landlord One Fam LLC. The property is at 13900 Orange Ave. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Staying Put: Sony Corp. has signed a five-year lease extension with Equity Office Properties for space at the Howard Hughes Center in Westchester. Sony will use the 50,435-square-foot office space for its digital cinema sales office.
Added Up: Holthouse Carlin & Van Trigt LLP, a Santa Monica accounting firm with six other offices in the L.A. region, has been ranked the second largest CPA firm headquartered in California and the 46th largest firm in the United States, according to trade magazine Practical Accountant. The magazine ranked the firms based on 2008 revenues.

Multifamily Sale: Southbrook Equities has sold a Van Nuys apartment complex for $4.4 million to Woodley Apartments Villa LLC. The complex, at 6525-6535 Woodley Ave., comprises 25 two-bedroom units and two three-bedroom units.
Moving In: Aminach Group, a Nir Zvi, Israel-based home furnishings company, has opened a showroom in Studio City. The new location is at 12332 Ventura Blvd.
Office Acquisition: Express Video Supply has purchased a Glendale office property for $3.18 million from Greystone Business Credit REO LLC. The 15,680-square-foot building, at 1819 Victory Blvd., will be the new headquarters of EVS, a renter of media equipment.
New Eatery: Stonefire Grill Inc., a Westlake Village-based restaurant operator, has opened a Stonefire Grill in Pasadena. The new location is at 437 N. Rosemead Blvd.
Expanded Operation: New York-based TVGuide.com, a Web site tracking the TV industry, has opened a West Coast bureau in Hollywood. Natalie Abrams and Kate Stanhope have been hired as staff editors at the Hollywood bureau.
