Raymond Vicks Jr. has been named West Coast health care sector assurance leader in the downtown L.A. office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Previously, Vicks was public sector practice assurance leader in the firm's Washington, D.C., office.


Comerica Bank has hired Billy Barnes as assistant vice president and banking center manager in its Crenshaw branch. Barnes was previously branch manager for Bank of America in Torrance.

Kathleen Hatcher has joined Covina-based Stellar Business Bank as president and community banking manager. Hatcher previously served as vice president in the Irwindale office of Vineyard Bank.


Mount St. Mary's College, which has campuses in Brentwood in downtown Los Angeles, has named Debbie Ream director of public relations. She will work out of the Doheny campus in downtown. Ream was previously director of public affairs for the Los Angeles Times.


Timothy G. Psomas has been appointed chairman of the American Council of Engineering Cos., a Washington, D.C.-based industry organization. Psomas is chairman of Psomas, a downtown L.A.-based engineering firm.


Deane Leavenworth has been appointed west region vice president of government relations at Time Warner Cable in El Segundo. Leavenworth was previously vice president of external affairs with the network.


Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital has elected William R. Boyd and Daniel Weinstein to the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation board, and Nicholas V. McClure to the hospital's board. Boyd is senior managing director at Charles Dunn Co., a downtown L.A.-based real estate company. Weinstein is managing director of Wetherly Capital Group, a West L.A. investment banking and consulting firm. McClure is co-founder and principal of Amistad Financial Group, an L.A. firm that provides business, real estate and finance advisory services.


The downtown L.A. office of DLA Piper, an international law firm, has named Ray Brown principal economist and Paul Burns of counsel in the tax group. Brown was previously managing director of the transfer pricing practice at Duff & Phelps, a New York-based financial services firm. Burns was director of transfer pricing at Duff & Phelps.

Marrian S. Chang has been appointed president-elect of the Korean-American Bar Association of Southern California. Chang is an associate in the downtown L.A. office of Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart PC, a national labor and employment law firm.

Johnnie A. James has joined the West L.A. office of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP, a Denver-based law firm, as shareholder in the employment and litigation groups. James previously served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Sage Publications Inc., a Thousand Oaks publisher of books, journals and electronic media.

Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, a downtown L.A.-based law firm, has named Pamela L. Westhoff partner in its real estate, land use and environmental practice group. Westhoff was previously partner in the downtown L.A. office of DLA Piper.

Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, a downtown L.A.-based law firm, has appointed Roland J. Tong and Kathryn Tyler partners. Tong was previously in-house intellectual property counsel in the San Fernando office of Future Graphics Imaging Corp., an imaging supplies company. Tyler previously served as senior counsel in the business and intellectual property departments of Silver & Freedman, a Century City law firm.


Jennifer Vides Blake has joined the West L.A. office of RL Public Relations, a Hispanic public relations and marketing firm, as senior vice president. Blake previously served as senior vice president of consumer marketing practice in the West Hollywood office of Weber Shandwick, a New York-based public relations firm.


The Independent Film & Television Alliance Collections, a Westwood-based non-profit organization that collects international audiovisual royalties, has promoted Tony Aronovitz to manager. Aronovotz was previously financial analyst.

Lloyd Greif has been elected chairman of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp., a non-profit organization with the mission of attracting and retaining businesses and jobs in Los Angeles. Greif is founder and president of Greif & Co., a downtown L.A. middle-market investment bank.


CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. has hired Valerie Achtemeier as executive vice president in the capital markets group at its downtown L.A. office. Achtemeier was previously vice president and director of capital markets with Majestic Realty Co., a real estate development company in City of Industry.

Paul Miszkowicz has joined King's Arch Capital, a Beverly Hills real estate investment firm, as lead investment analyst. Miszkowicz was previously investment analyst with Sharp Capital Group in Van Nuys.


Aviva Family and Children's Services, a Hollywood non-profit mental health and social service agency, has presented its Aviva Impact Awards to NancyJane Goldston, Vicki Martin and Tracee Ellis Ross. Goldston is founder and chief executive of the UXB, a Beverly Hills advertising agency. Martin is principal of Johnson Martin Advisors Inc., a Beverly Hills investment management firm. Ellis Ross is an actress and producer.
