Chris Lewis has been named senior vice president and regional private banking manager in the downtown L.A. office of Wells Fargo Private Bank. Lewis was previously senior vice president of commercial mortgage origination with the bank.

Stone & Youngberg, a financial services company based in San Francisco, has promoted Sara Oberlies to public finance group managing director in its downtown L.A. office. Oberlies was previously director of the firm's public finance group.


Caltech has appointed Brigitte Bren and Louis J. Lavigne Jr. to the Pasadena university's board. Bren is co-founder of International Strategic Planning Inc., a business consulting firm. Lavigne was previously executive vice president and chief financial officer of Genentech, a South San Francisco-based biotechnology company.


The Los Angeles County Small Business Commission has appointed Cecilia S. Wu as chairwoman. Wu is managing partner of the Alhambra office of law firm Wasserman Comden & Casselman LLP.


Gerard N. Casale Jr. has joined the corporate department of TroyGould, a Century City law firm, as member. Casale was previously nonequity partner for Dreier Stein Kahan Browne Woods George LLP, a Santa Monica law firm.

The downtown L.A. office of Alston & Bird LLP, an Atlanta law firm, has named Maureen Gorsen partner in its environmental and land development practice. Gorsen was previously director of California's Department of Toxic Substances Control.

Seyfarth Shaw LLP, a Chicago law firm, has named Mark T. Hansen and Edward J. McCaffery of counsels, and Alan T. Yoshitake partner of the trusts and estates practice group in its Century City office. Previously, Hansen and Yoshitake were partners, and McCaffery was of counsel in the downtown L.A. office of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, a Chicago law firm.

Vicky Pham has been named associate of business/complex litigation practice group in the downtown L.A. office of Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps LLP, a San Diego law firm. Pham was previously associate at Moldo Davidson Fraioli Seror & Sestanovich LLP, a Century City law firm.

Mark Shinderman has been named partner in the downtown L.A. office of Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy LLP, a New York-based law firm. Shinderman was previously partner and head of the bankruptcy and restructuring department at Munger Tolles & Olson LLP, a downtown L.A. law firm.
