Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. said Tuesday it received a contract to provide engineering and design work for a coking facility at an Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. refinery.

The Pasadena engineering firm said it will perform front-end engineering and design services, and supervise contractors installing a delayed coker unit at the refinery in Paradip in the state of Orissa. The unit heats oil to produce coker gas oil and petroleum coke often used as refinery fuel.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the total installed cost of such a unit is estimated at $350 million.

Jacobs shares closed up 50 cents, or 1 percent, to $38.53 on the New York Stock Exchange.
