California Pizza Kitchen Inc. said Monday that Sue Collyns has been promoted to the newly created position of chief operating officer. Collyns, the Los Angeles-based restaurant chain’s chief financial officer, will continue to perform the duties of CFO and will hold an additional title as executive vice president.

Todd Slayton, who serves as senior vice president, corporate finance and controller, has assumed the additional title of chief accounting officer from Collyns.

“Sue possesses strong leadership abilities and her insights and direction have been integral to CPK’s success,” said Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax, co-chief executives, in a statement.

Collyns, 42, has been with CPK for seven years. Prior to that, she held executive or managerial financial positions at Sony, Pepsi, GlaxoSmithKline and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
