Campus Compact: KBKC Properties has bought a retail building in Walnut for $4.15 million from Walnut Preschool LP. The 10,500-square-foot building, at 21639 E. Valley Blvd., was built in 2002 and is part of the Village building park.
Property Purchased: Burge Pacific Enterprise Inc. has acquired a retail property for $7.69 million from J.W. Rich Investment Co. The building at, 245-253 E. Foothill Blvd., is 12,610 square feet and was built this year.
New Branch: Real estate services company Jones Lang LaSalle has opened a branch in Santa Clarita branch to handle the north Los Angeles County market. The new office is at 21080 Centre Pointe Parkway.
Overseas Hookup: Arvato Digital Services, a Valencia-based digital services provider, has opened a customer care facility in the Philippines. The new center, at Eastwood City Cyber Park, expands the company to 50 customer call centers in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
Store Opened: Carson-based grocery store chain Bristol Farms has opened a store in Valencia. The store, at 23975 Newhall Ranch Road, includes historical murals depicting the Santa Clarita Valley in the early '40s and '50s.
Airport Authority: The city of Palmdale has taken over the lease of the terminal, parking lot and taxiways at Palmdale Airport. The city made the move after Los Angeles World Airports decided that it would no longer operate the regional airport or include it in plans to reduce air traffic at Los Angeles International Airport.
Building Bought: Orchid Property Management Inc. has purchased a retail building from Corporate Partners Capital Group Inc. in La Mirada for $4.55 million. The 27,600-square-foot building, at 14207 Rosecrans Ave., was built in 1955 and houses a Pep Boys Auto store with a 15-year lease.
Industrial Renewal: Transportation services firm WinWell Cos. has renewed its lease of a 60,000-square-foot industrial building in Norwalk for a total lease consideration of $2.1 million for five years. The building, at 15600 Blackburn Ave., was constructed in 1976 and sits on a 2.9-acre lot.
New Studio: Veteran entertainment industry executives Scott Ehrlich, Larry Tanz and Keith Quinn, have launched Agility Studios, a Hollywood boutique studio focused on new-media content. Mantucket Capital backed the new venture.

Environmental Contract: Aecom Technology Corp., a downtown L.A.-based provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients, has been awarded a $12.5 million environmental services contract renewal by the United States Coast Guard. Aecom will provide environmental compliance, auditing, engineering, management and other services under the five-year contract.

Design Award: Stuart Karten Design, a Marina del Rey industrial design consultancy, has been awarded the 2008 People's Design Award from the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. Stuart Karten earned the honor for its Zon hearing aid for Starkey.
Firm Formed: Litigators Jay M. Spillane and Alex M. Weingarten have formed an entertainment, intellectual property and business litigation firm, Spillane Weingarten LLP. The firm is at 1880 Century Park East in Century City.
Facing Forward: Image Metrics, a facial animation technology company in Santa Monica, has formed divisions specializing in video games, film and TV. Kelvin Duckett has been named general manager of the film-TV group; Brian Waddle will oversee the games unit.
Distribution License: Modern Amusement, a Santa Monica designer of men's and women's sportswear, swimwear and accessories, has signed a master licensing agreement with Blk Brd LLC for its clothing and accessories. Blk Brd has received an exclusive multiyear license to manufacture and distribute the Modern Amusement brand.
Recycling Boost: Flipswap Inc., a mobile phone trade-in and electronic recycling company based in Torrance, has announced an investment of $14 million in Series B funding from RRE Ventures, a technology venture capital firm, and Ngen, a venture capital firm that invests in clean-technology businesses.
Healthy Debut: Oshyn Inc., a Glendale digital design firm that works with new-media platforms, has launched wellness Web site Intent.com. The site, co-founded by Mallika Chopra and former Yahoo executive Sal Taylor Kydd, offers social networking, blogging and other content in categories such as health and relationships.
Office Space: THQ has leased 22,800 square feet of office space at Condor Corporate Center in Moorpark at an estimated $3.5 million for six years. The 129,646-square-foot property, at 5898 Condor Drive, is in the Moorpark Business Center.
