Services Sold: National Technical Systems Inc., a Calabasas company that provides design engineering services and technical resources has sold its information technology services and contracts business to Detroit-based Strategic Staffing Solutions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the agreement will cut $10 million from National Technical's second quarter revenues reported July 31.


Office Acquired: Carlisle Properties Inc. has sold a Van Nuys office building for $8 million to a shell company headed by investor Rickey Gelb. The four-story, 53,000-square-foot building at 7100 Hayvenhurst Ave. was built in 1973.


Moving In: Cydcor, a sales company, has executed a lease for 19,074 square feet of space at 3011 Townsgate Road in Westlake Village. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.



Powered Up: The city of Burbank has extended a partnership for compressed natural gas from Seal Beach-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. The extension is for an additional 14 years. Clean Fuels opened its first natural gas station in Burbank in 2002. Under the modified agreement, it will design, build and operate a new station at the Burbank Public Works Yard to support the city's fleet of natural gas-powered refuse trucks.



Rolling In: Horizon Tire Inc. has signed a five-year lease to house its distribution operations at a 51,184-square-foot building in Commerce. The lease for 5556 Grace Place requires Horizon Tire to pay 56 cents per square foot per month with 4 percent annual increases.



Dressed Up: Clothing company Unger Fabrik LLC has renewed its lease on a 198,610-square-foot industrial building in downtown Los Angeles for two more years. The rent for the property at 1515 E. 15th St. was reported at 47 cents per square foot per month.



New HQ: California Republic Bank, a commercial bank based in Newport Beach, has opened its regional headquarters in Beverly Hills. The new office, at 100 N. Crescent Drive, will serve the company's West Los Angeles market.


Mixing Media: Ascent Media Group, a Santa Monica creative and technical services company, has acquired the encoding and media services division of Sample Digital LLC, a Hollywood-based maker of production and media management tools. Ascent plans to move Sample Digital's employees and infrastructure to facilities in Burbank. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Presidential Laughs: National Lampoon Inc., a West Hollywood-based comedy entertainment company, has acquired Web site, an online blog comprising humor focused on the president-elect. The site will be part of the online National Lampoon Humor Network. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Game for Film: D3Publisher, a West L.A. maker of interactive entertainment software, has announced a publishing agreement with Hong Kong-based Imagi Studios, to develop video games based on Imagi's upcoming animated film "Astro Boy." The games are scheduled to be released alongside the movie's debut in October 2009.

Taking Root: West Los Angeles architecture firm Marmol Radziner & Associates has been awarded an Architectural Foundation of Los Angeles citation for green design. The award was for its design of the Treepeople Conference Center in Coldwater Canyon Park at Treepeople's environmental education campus.


Alliance Launched: Venice-based InterLux Media has launched its online advertising network InterLuxe Alliance. The alliance allows its members, more than 30 interactive publishers, to trade media and exchange content among themselves.
