Actors to Resume Talks With Studios

The Screen Actors Guild, the largest actors union, will resume contract talks with Hollywood Studios after negotiations broke off last week, Bloomberg News reports.

The guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, the group representing media companies, will meet by May 28, SAG spokeswoman Pamela Greenwalt said today in an e-mail.

The parties may get together earlier if schedules permit, Greenwalt said. Studios stopped the discussions on May 7 after three weeks of talks failed to resolve differences on DVD and Internet pay rates. The media companies are currently in talks with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, which is negotiating separately from SAG for the first time in 27 years.

Alliance spokesman Jesse Hiestand confirmed that the talks with SAG would resume without elaborating.
