Show Business Executive Played Variety of Roles in Rise

Justin Bergeron realized at a young age that in order to be successful in the world of entertainment production, knowing many different aspects of the industry was important.

“When I first started going to school, I knew that I didn’t want to be a one-trick pony,” said Bergeron, who attended Montana State University. “I wanted to understand and be capable of doing a lot of different things and to be able to do them well.”

A point of pride for Bergeron is that he has been able to support himself by working in the entertainment industry no temp jobs or waiting tables. Being able to operate as an editor, cinematographer, camera operator, director or producer made him highly employable.

After years of working freelance, Bergeron transitioned into the business side of show business, and recently took the chief executive reins at Indie Ranch Media, an Internet TV studio and production services company.

“I try to stay ahead of the curve,” said Bergeron. “I understand business pretty well. You need to have a unique selling advantage.”

Decentralizing the production side of filmmaking is one of Bergeron’s biggest goals within Indie Ranch Media. What independent filmmakers couldn’t accomplish previously without the help of expensive equipment, can now be done in the comfort of their homes through a personal computer.

Indie Ranch’s Web site allows filmmakers to upload a film, TV or commercial project and access professional level editing equipment. Indie Ranch advisers also provide feedback through the editing process.

The main objective that Bergeron has for Indie Ranch is turning it into a one-stop Internet production-distribution company, providing services at a much lower cost than other companies have been able to offer thus far.

“The stranglehold that studios have had on distribution is no longer,” Bergeron noted.

Bergeron lives in Santa Monica with his wife, Cher, and their 1-year-old daughter, Juliette.

Bergeron is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys ice-climbing and snowboarding.
