Teen apparel retailer Hot Topic Inc. said Michael Crooke is no longer president of the company’s Hot Topic division.

City of Industry-based Hot Topic, operates Hot Topic and Torrid teen retail chains, did not explain why Crooke left the company, according to a Wednesday press release. In the interim, Chief Executive Betsy McLaughlin is overseeing the division.

Crooke joined the company on June 2. Before that, he was a senior adviser to Steve Case at Revolution Living LLC. Hot Topic last month reported its first-quarter loss widened this year on a drop in sales at stores open at least one year. Total sales rose 1.1 percent to $159 million.

Shares fell 28 cents on Tuesday, or 4.5 percent, to close at $5.24 on the Nasdaq.
