Ducommun Post Strong Q4, Shares Dip

Higher sales of commercial aerospace products helped Ducommun Inc. report a 27-percent hike in fourth-quarter net income.


Ducommun reported net income of $5.4 million (51 cents per share), compared to $4.3 million (41 cents) from the same period a year earlier. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expected a profit of 50 cents per share.


Sales for L.A.’s oldest company also rose 6 percent to $93.5 million, also beating Wall Street’s expectation s of $92.1 million.


The Carson-based company added that strong sales from commercial products made up for a slight dip in sales of military and space products.


For the full year, net income rose 37 percent to $19.6 million ($1.88 per share), while sales rose 15 percent to $367 million.


However, shares in Ducommun were down 4.1 percent to $25.85 in early trading Monday on the New York Stock Exchange.
