National Lampoon Inc., best known for its comedy media content aimed at male college students, said Tuesday that it has acquired a modeling industry Web site for an undisclosed sum.

AllModelZone.com, which Web site developer and host Alle Von Technologies LLC launched in 2002, is a social network for people in the modeling industry and allows users to communicate and find work via profiles, forums and photo galleries, said Los Angeles-based National Lampoon. Alle Von is located in Hazlet, N.J.

AllModelZone user accounts are free, but a paid premium version provides access to more advanced features such as more extensive photo galleries. The company plans to generate interest outside its usual user base by using its Web site to cast a role for its upcoming film, ‘National Lampoon’s Legend of Awesomest Maximus.’

“In addition to improving upon the monetization of the site’s traffic via our ad sales infrastructure, we see tremendous upside in expanding the user base, both free and paid, and in using the site to cast roles in our feature films and other projects,” said National Lampoon Chief Executive Officer Daniel Laikin in a statement.

Shares of National Lampoon were unchanged at $1.30 in Tuesday morning trading on the American Stock Exchange.
