DirecTV Signs Ad Sales Pact

National Cable Communications LLC, the nation’s largest cable spot ad sales company, announced an ad partnership Monday with satellite TV provider DirecTV Group Inc.

New York-based NCC will sell spot ads to several of DirecTV’s regional sports networks that also will be placed on cable regional sports channels. The deal will take advantage of technology that allows uniform ad feeds into the separate satellite and cable systems.

Participating markets will include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, and Houston.

“Ad agencies benefit from the single point of contact we will provide both locally and nationally,” said NCC President Greg Schaefer in a statement. “Combining wired cable with satellite is a major breakthrough for the advertising industry.”

Bob Riordan, DirecTV’s senior vice president for advertising sales, said the partnership will offer “a one-stop shop for advertisers.”

NCC also will assume national spot sales representation of El Segundo-based DirecTV’s regional sports networks in these markets.
