Walt Disney Co. said Monday that it will phase out all trans fats over the next two years from food it serves at its theme parks in Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

The announcement comes about a year after the Burbank-based entertainment company said it was planning to eliminate all trans fats from food it serves in its U.S. parks by the end of this year.

Disney, which is the world’s largest theme park operator, added that it is also starting a series of short programs about healthy food called “Pass the Plate,” which will be aired during its popular “Hannah Montana,” cable show.

Each segment in the series will focus on the preparation and nutritional benefits of foods such as rice, mangos, bananas and spinach, Disney said in a statement.

Shares in Disney gained 2.3 percent to $34.60 in afternoon trading Monday on the New York Stock Exchange
