Monrovia’s AeroVironment Inc. said Tuesday that a 60-day trial of an electric car using its battery recharging technology has reached its halfway point.

The All-Electric Fiat Doblo, which was developed by AeroVironment and three other companies, is being tested in Oslo, Norway and has reached the halfway point of the 4,660-mile trial.

The battery packs for the car were provided by Reno-based Altairnano, and have been fully recharged in less than 10 minutes three separate times with AeroVironment’s high-voltage rapid recharging system, the company said. The vehicle was converted from a standard, five-seat passenger car to an electric drive car by Italian electric car company Micro-Vett and will be distributed by Go Green Holdings, a Norwegian marketing firm.

AeroVironment spokesman Steven Gitlin said the charger and batteries recharge the batteries in about the same time it takes today’s cars to fill up with gasoline.

AeroVironment shares rose 4.2 percent, or $1.05, to a 52-week high of $26.24 in afternoon trading Tuesday on the Nasdaq, The company’s initial public offering was in January.
