Disney Toys Recalled Due to Lead

The Walt Disney Co. is the latest toy licensee to have its goods recalled because they contained dangerous levels of lead in items manufactured in China.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced recalls of more than half a million items Thursday, including 78,500 toy flashlights branded “Pirates of the Caribbean Medallion Squeeze Lights.” They were made in China by Energizer.

Also recalled were more than 35,000 of Disney’s Baby Einstein Discover & Play Color Blocks because the blue blocks in the set also contained unacceptable levels of lead paint. The block sets were also made in China.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported. There were no estimates as to the cost of this recall.
