Connery, Country Club Settle Dispute

Sean Connery settled a lawsuit against Sherwood County Club last week for an undisclosed sum.

Connery had alleged breach of contract among other claims, and was seeking as much as $1 million in damages because Sherwood refused to buy back his membership in the club. The suit had been scheduled to go to trial this month.

In 1990, Connery became a member at the exclusive club in Thousand Oaks for the discounted price of $35,000.

But by 2004, the famed actor sought to resell his Sherwood membership back to the club as allowed by his original purchase agreement, according to the complaint. In the lawsuit, which was filed in 2006, Connery asked for $500,000 as compensation for the going rate for a Sherwood membership. He also sought additional damages based on Sherwood’s use of his name to sale memberships in the club and residential plots surrounding the golf course.
