Mattel Inc.’s Fisher-Price division and the Consumer Product Safety Commission on Tuesday announced a recall of 155,000 “Laugh & Learn Learning Kitchen” toys because small parts pose a choking risk for small children.

The CPSC said pieces of the faucet or the clock hands on the toys can detach and be swallowed. The toys were made in Mexico.

The agency said there have been 48 reports of the small parts separating from the toys, including a handful of reports of gagging and choking by some children.

The CPSC advised that consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and contact Fisher-Price for a free repair kit.

The El Segundo-based toymaker has recalled more than 21 million toys so far this year. Nearly all of them were made in China and most were recalled because they were made with lead paint.

Shares in Mattel were down 2 percent to $20.85 in early trading Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange.
