Owner of Topa Equities, Century City holding company for more than 40 firms. Anderson’s holdings have ridden the wave of the region’s commercial and residential real estate booms, with the value of his closely held corporations alone up 73 percent, according to figures provided by Anderson, who released his net worth. Other holdings include wholesale beverage distributors, car dealerships, agriculture and insurance. Largest landowner in Westwood Village and Montana Avenue shopping area in Santa Monica. Owns the tallest building in Ventura County at Oxnard’s Topa Financial Plaza.

Added to Topa’s portfolio over the past year with acquisition of a Budweizer-Corona distributorship in Pasadena and an Acura dealership in Thousand Oaks. Became an early Budweiser distributor when he started Ace Beverage Co. in 1956. Named Greater Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce’s Distinguished Business Leader for 2007. Inducted into the Business Journal’s Business Hall of Fame as Businessman of the Year in 2003. In 1987 he donated $15 million to alma mater UCLA, which named the Anderson School of Management in his honor. Son of a Minneapolis barber, received B.A. in business administration at UCLA on hockey scholarship, going on to earn an M.B.A. from Harvard University before enlisting in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he added a law degree from Loyola Law School. Octogenarian, still puts in a full week at the office and walks five miles every other day to stay in shape. He and wife, Marian, are significant backers of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
