Northrop Grumman Corp. said Monday that it has sold a manufacturing and marketing license for an air traffic control system to Indra, a Spanish technology company.

The ASR-12 system is used by more than 130 commercial airports to monitor the departure, approach and landing of aircraft. Indra operates air traffic management systems in 40 countries, primarily in Europe.

The Los Angeles-based defense contractor said Indra will be prohibited from marketing the system in the United States. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Shares in Northrop were up 77 cents, or 1 percent, to $75.64 in afternoon trading Monday on the New York Stock Exchange.
