Late payments on home loans Countrywide Financial Corp. manages were unchanged in February, the Calabasas mortgage company said Monday.

Loans at least 30 days past due sat at 4.7 percent of total loans serviced, the same as it was in January, the nation’s largest lender said in a statement. However, the number is still more than the 4.29 percent for the same period a year earlier.

Countrywide also said that nearly 20 percent of the subprime loans it services for others were delinquent. But the company added that it extended $35 billion in new mortgages in February, a 10 percent increase from a year earlier. Subprime mortgages accounted for about 7 percent of that total.

Shares in Countrywide were down $1.08, or 3 percent, to $35.02 in afternoon trading Monday on the New York Stock Exchange.
