Teledyne Buys Fiber Optics Firm

Teledyne Technologies Inc. has agreed to acquire technology firm D.G. O’Brien Inc, the Los Angeles company said Friday.


D.G. O’Brien, based in Seabrook, New Hampshire, makes electrical and fiber optic data transfer and management systems for undersea uses by the military as well as offshore oil and gas companies. The firm had revenue of $26.2 million last year, Teledyne said. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.


Shares in Teledyne, which makes electronic components and instruments as well as communications products, were up 83 cents, or 2 percent, to $37.63 in afternoon trading Friday on the New York Stock Exchange.
