CSC Ordered to End U.K. Dispute

Computer Sciences Corp. has been informed that the British government will take over an $8 billion contract to overhaul the country’s health care records system unless the company can resolve a takeover dispute involving its partner, ISoft Group Plc.

The threat, reported in the Financial Times, comes after Computer Sciences said Wednesday that it was mulling a bid for the Manchester-based software company. ISoft had previously agreed to be bought by Australian health care technology company IBA Health for about $186 million in an all-stock deal.

Computer Sciences, under authority granted to it through it partnership with iSoft to overhaul the U.K.’s health care records system, had rejected the acquisition. ISoft has said it is considering legal action against Computer Sciences.

Shares in Computer Sciences were up 41 cents to $56.03 in afternoon trading Thursday on New York Stock Exchange.
