CSC Mulls iSoft Bid

Computer Sciences Corp. said it is considering an offer for British software firm iSoft Group PLC.

The Manchester-based software firm previously agreed to be bought by Australian health care technology company IBA Health for about $186 million in an all-stock deal.

However, due to a partnership between iSoft and CSC in an $8 billion overhaul of the United Kingdom’s health care records system, the El Segundo-based information technology company can block any corporate change of control at iSoft.

CSC issued a statement saying that it “continues to review its options” and “does not exclude the possibility of making an offer for iSoft,” the El Segundo-based IT services provider said in a statement. IBA said it has begun preliminary legal steps against CSC for the refusal to back the deal.

Shares in CSC were down 98 cents, or 1.7 percent, to $55.98 in afternoon trading Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange.
