A home once owned by William Randolph Hearst was put on the market for $165 million, making it the most expensive home for sale in the United States, Westside Estate Agency said Monday.

Known locally as the “Beverly House Compound,” the Beverly Hills estate spans more than 6 acres and offers 72,000 square feet of living space with 29 bedrooms throughout four separate homes, one apartment and a security cottage.

The property has been owned by financier Leonard Ross for the past 31 years.

Believed to be the largest compound left in Beverly Hills, the house was originally built for Milton Getz of Union Bank and Trust in the late 1920s and was designed by Gordon Kaufmann with the landscape architecture done by Paul Thienefeatures.

The property also has three pools and two tennis courts, plus a two-story library.
